Attuned: 55 Questions for “Predictive HR Analytics”

Employee burnout can be a tough thing to spot in early stages. Companies spend a lot of resources on identifying sources of burnout and ever-increasingly innovative ways to motivate employees. Well, a Japanese startup is working on the most advanced solution yet by using AI to predict and prevent burnout. “Predictive HR Analytics” is the preferred term. A simple survey consisting of 55 questions is all the company, Attuned, says it needs to give any manager insight into what motivates their employees. So, how does Predictive HR Analytics work?

When a user is taking the assessment online, they are given two statements per question. “Planning my day in advance gives me a sense of security,” and “I prefer to be able to decide which task to focus on at any given time,” for example. The user tells the program how much each statement applies to them. Do they “strongly prefer” it, “prefer” it, or “somewhat prefer” it? Once the test is complete, the program analyzes the responses, then scores them based on 11 key human motivators, including “competition,” “feedback,” “autonomy,” “security,” and “financial needs,” and creates a personalized “motivational profile”.

If the score in an area is high, it is likely to be a “need to have” motivator for that person, and lower scores are likely to be considered a more “neutral” motivator. So, if an employee scores high in the “social” area, you may consider planning an office event soon. If “autonomy” has a high score, you could consider allowing that person more flexible hours or taking charge of a project. And, because motivators can change over time, a subscription to the service also offers spontaneous surveys every couple of weeks to help you monitor the group’s changing preferences. There is a starting price tag of $1,960 for the basic yearly subscription. But, the price is well worth it if it delivers it promises and saves you and your team countless hours of lost production time from burnout.
